Because I'm pissed and you're not smart enough !

Hi! I'm Sarah and welcome to Doodledee.Doodledum-a place where I fill it up with my thoughts, experiences and just my (sort of) daily adventures. Today I feel like sharing a very important story that made me learn about the importance of friendship, virtue, patience, controlling your anger and finally...independence.

I'm gonna be frank here, those who know me, do know that I can be difficult at times. I am hot headed, a total arrogant snob and a complete bitch when I'm cranky. I got attitude and I know how to use it. But one thing about me is that I absolutely value friendship, hate fighting, hate turning into that bitchy arrogant snob and I know where my limits are when I get pissed. (even though I will blow up and complain a lot). Apart from that, I'm also a person that does what I say and when it comes to work, I do my absolute best to be as diligent as possible. (of course there are a few set backs, hey...i'm not perfect).

Today however, I was tested. I won't get into the details as it is a private matter. Long story short, is that I got into a bit of an argument with a friend of mine and we were getting pretty snappy. Personally, I don't see where my fault is. Thats just my point of view but thats just biased for me to say. Maybe I had offended her as well by asking her things she wasn't prepared to answer. Things, that well, I think (and a part of me is screaming at how I'm right and justifying how right I am) are ridiculously simple to do yet was not done. But we shall ignore her for now...as I am trying to be neutral-Sarah in this story I'm telling.

So, as I was saying, because of this little spat, I felt so many emotions. I felt hateful, bitter, annoyed and of course I was angry. At that moment, I just had to let it out to someone (which I eventually did, because if I didn't, I would be an old bitter hag by now) to justify why I think I'm right and why I shouldn't be the one apologising. I was about to whip out my phone and dial up my parent's and my bf's number when a thought popped in my head.

Why is it that every time something bad happens to me (in this case me getting annoyed/pissed beyond belief) I always run to the ones I love and complain to them? For justification of my actions? Why is it that I have to justify, even to myself, that I am not the one at fault here? I know I'm not wrong. But why must I need a 'support' ? Why cant I just be independent and stick to my opinion and not feel the need to justify why I'm bloody right?

Yes, we all need to feel that we are right sometimes by justifying our actions to others. And I'm a prime example at doing so towards my parents, my bf and anyone whose willing to listen. Is it because I just have the need to gossip about it? And that actually deep down I am hurt and in need of some consolation. Because I'm too afraid to admit that I did a mistake too? Well, to be honest. Yes I am hurt. Yes I do need some consolation. and when I think about it, I do believe that I must have wronged her as well.

Even so, that doesn't give anyone any reason to blow up. (And this is my 3rd time editing that phrase to erase all the emotions I had this morning that are still lingering on and making things very negative.)

In conclusion, to this 'rant' of mine. The lesson I learnt today is that :

1)I need to learn to be more independent.
2)Don't let what other people say bother me.
3)Don't be too emotional
4)Don't give a f*ck anymore. (gotta mind my language...there are under 18's lurking around here)

And with that we can be joyful people. hahahaha

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said,
"The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength,
but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger"
-Narrated by Abu Huraira R.A

Thats all folks,

Xx,

Sarah

Cheering me on

Road less taken

Hi there! Welcome back to my blog, where it is the very place you can read my 'mind'. (LAME JOKE ALERT!)

So, its already Sunday Evening here in Malaysia (exactly 11.33pm) and I'm sitting here in my room with a face mask on enjoying the last moments of freedom for this week. Tomorrow is Monday which means, back to work! Technically, not really work, I'm still doing my internship at an architecture firm and will only continue with my studies in September. I cant freaking wait. Not that there's anything wrong with the company I'm attached with. I just feel trapped from 8-5pm....and well...working life sucks. Its like day in day out the same thing. Its...so....boring. And well, I hope when I graduate, thats not what's gonna happen. hopefully.

ANYWAYS, the motive for today's blog post, isn't for me to rant on about how boring working life is, cause I'm pretty sure you guys thats reading can relate to me on that. No, today's post shall be a happy one because thats what we're all doing our best to achieve. HAPPINESS.

Right... I think that pretty much got way off topic from what I initially had in mind. Today I want to share with you, my fellow reader, about my marathon training today.

As you all know, (and if you don't, I'm gonna explain), I am currently preparing for MY VERY FIRST 10KM MARATHON ! and like I said, its my very first, so I'm quite nervous for it. Nervous cause I worry I won't have the stamina & mental strength to complete it. Its officially in another 2 weeks and well, I think I'm doing alright?

Today I ran the longest distance and the fastest in all my training days. I ran 3.4KM in 30minutes. Which is, for a newbie, not bad. Before I went out for a run, there was a storm that hit my area. Not that bad, just the typical tropical country storm my country usually faces. That meant that I wouldn't be able to run outside (no duuuhh..) after about an hour or so, it finally stopped and I was extremely ecstatic since I could finally go out for a run. I went further than usual and to areas I hardly went by.

The weather was fine, till I reached the final 1km of my run. While I was running, out of no where, it started raining. Since I was still too far from my house I had to just wing it and run in the rain. I was feeling alright. I knew I had to complete my run and that hopefully the rain wouldn't get me sick. I wasn't feeling too bad. But I wasn't feeling wonderful either way.

As I was running, I passed by a house in my neighbourhood. The owner was outside his house at the time and was locking his gate when he saw me running in the rain. Instead of just looking away and ignoring me like all the other people I pass by, he actually cheered me on! It totally made my day. It just shows how a little bit of kindness, like cheering on a stranger could actually make a difference. It was really nice of him to do that and it proved to me that people are still nice and that we should all try to play nice with each other.

Ok, I'm getting sleepy...tomorrow its back to work and I need to wake up early. Good night dear readers and fellow bloggers,

Till next time,

Xx,
Sarah

Monthly Challenge #1 : Marathon preparation update!

Hi! And welcome back to my blog! For those of you who are new here; hi! I'm Sarah and welcome to the written version of my thoughts!

Today, as promised in the previous post (Post : Cerita Semalam) I'm gonna update you on this month's challenge. For those of you who have absolutely no idea about what I'm talking about, no worries, here's the deal.

I've decided that every month I will set a goal to reach. I decided to do this because :

A) I've never joined a marathon, and I always talk about joining a marathon. what better way than actually finally joining a marathon!
B) I went through a life-changing experience. (Check out the 'Trip to the Oncologist' entry to read it in full) and I realise that even though I am cancer free, life is very short.
C) I want to actually become lean. and feel what its like to not be 'chubby'
D) I'm too comfortable in my comfort zone, so this is my way of breaking out of my comfort zone.

Because of the factors above (and many other factors) I've decided to participate in the TM Fan Run which is organised by the telco provider here in Malaysia.

Now back to the main topic :

THE UPDATE OF MY PREPARATION

Its been 2 weeks of training and I have another 2 weeks to go.
(disclaimer : I'm not a professional training or any sort, I do whats best for my body and I exercise with caution and hopefully don't injure myself along the way)

Now, I'm not starting as a completely newbie. I've ran long distance before and I consider myself 'able to exercise without collapsing'. However, I've never went for a 10 KM run. So I do consider myself fresh in this area and I learn from various sources and people who actually do marathons and long distance runs.

WEEK 1 :

Day 1 (7/8/2014)
Run/Walk - I took it easy, because it was quite sometime since I last ran. So I went slow, but I went for distance. I ran about 2.4 KM in 26 minutes. I felt normal as I took my time and I didn't rush into sprinting. I also track my running with Nike+ running & Polar GPS & Heart rate monitor. It gives me a general idea of my distance, speed and time. However, I'm not going for speed. I'm training to be able to finish strong.

Day 2 (8/8/2014)
Cross training - I actually created a program fro myself using Nike+ Training Club. Its difficult for me to physically get my butt to the gym to exercise or go for a swim. So what better way than to create a program and have my phone act like my little personal trainer. (I sound like I'm being paid to advertise them....-__-) but no, I'm not being paid (although I think they should hahaha)

Day 3 (9/8/2014)
Run/Walk - I went further than before. 3.15 km in 26 mins. I was really pushing myself and I am quite proud.

Day 4 (10/8/2014)
Horse Riding - ok so today I cheated a bit. After Riding, I went out and had a huge meal for myself followed by coffee and cake. hahaha

Day 5 (11/8/2014)
Rest day - rested. Like for real. hahaha

Day 6 (12/8/2014)
Run/walk - 3.15 KM

Day 7 (13/8/2014)
Run/ Walk - 2.88KM

WEEK 2:

Day 8 (14/8/2014)
walk : 1 KM- Walked to the office

Day 9 (15/8/2014)
Run : 1 KM- Morning Run.

Day 10 (16/8/2014)
Horse riding : in the rain!

Day 11 (17/8/2014)
Rest day

Day 12 (18/8/2014)
Cross-training-worked on my upper body

Day 13 (19/8/2014)
Run : 2.4km 20 mins. This was a time run. I managed to complete 2.4 km in 20 mins. went slow and steady and the final few seconds where I pushed on to beat the time. I realised as I was doing that, I was constantly telling myself to stop and slow down. That I wouldn't be able to beat the clock.  I'm glad I stopped myself from doing that and I pushed on. (According to Khairul, who has the ability to see people's aura, my personality contradicts each other. I don't do it to other people. But I do it to myself. 1 side of me is friendly, supportive, great and an extrovert. The other side to me is that I am cold, harsh and an introvert. which is true. But I am genuine when I work. Just that I constantly bring myself down)

Day 14 (20/8/2014)
Cross-Training: intense 30 min workout using Nike+ training club. I also created a program for myself to work on. That involves a variety of work outs and running. Also balances out the rest days (as you can see, I lack in that. hahaha)

And that's it! my workout progress so far. :D its getting late and I think its time for me to say good night and for those of you who's day just started, good morning!

Till next time!

Xx,

Sarah

Cerita Semalam : WonderMilk & Namoo | Jibby & co & The Coffee Club

HALO ! I bet you were tempted by the photo of the delicious food above right? ;D haha welcome back to my blog! I know I haven't been writing recently and I am so sorry. Its been real busy lately and I apologise for not having the time to actually sit down and write.

I just got back from a full 3 day outing with my studio mates (Aina, Amal, Naz & Yan) We went to Publika, Empire & Sunway Giza Mall for the past 3 days. We pretty much spent the 3 days out together from Thursday till today (Saturday) in search of FOOD! oh glorious Food!! (our 1st Year Studio Master always said we were the 'always-hungry' architecture student. HAHAHA!

Currently : I'm eating homemade apple pie made by my mama while I'm editing this post TEEHEE :P

Day #1 : WonderMilk & Namoo at Publika

Our 3 day adventure started on Thursday. We decided to meet up for dinner and have some burgers at WonderMilk. It wasn't my first time in WonderMilk. I spent a lot of my high school years and after at WonderMilk, so I was accustomed to the setting and wasn't much of a 'new experience' for me. But it was for Amal, Izyan & Aina. So we met up for dinner along with Nazrul and we had burgers and just did some serious catching up.

I'll spare you the details of the conversation...even I don't remember what we talked about. -___- but yeah we pretty much just sat there and enjoyed each others company (aaawww) :P
my zombie burger! & virgin mojito
After having dinner at WonderMilk we walked around Publika and found another cafe called Namoo.  Its a Korean dessert & coffee shop, and if you have seen my photos on instagram, you would know that I love Korean Coffee. Especially the Cafe Latte variations. (I'd like to dedicate a warm thanks to Shin for sending me 8 boxes of Korean Cafe Latte!) SO back to the story, even though we were full and had enough to eat for a night...we somehow ended up having coffee there. I didn't take any photos though, it was dark and nothing much happened.

ON TO THE NEXT DAY!!

Day #2 : Jibby & Co and The Coffee Club

AH! Jibby & Co...it was everything I expected. Delicious food. Great vibe. Great staff and just...absolutely delicious food. To the Chef who made my Salmon, compliments to you! It was so good. hahaha, :D

Despite, however reading reviews on other blogs claiming that the service was slow and it was a disappointment. From what I experienced, it wasn't anything like the reviews and to me, it was a really great place to dine out.

Having said that though, there was a waiting list and it took us about 30 mins to finally get a table (and by that I mean, it took Aina, Naz, Amal & Yan 30 mins. I was going around looking for parking at that time hehe!) but after finally getting a table, the wait didn't make our dinning experience a sour one.

HEHE!
Even the food arrived real quick and it was really good. I ordered the panfried Salmon in Tamarind sauce and french beans with white rice. (OH SO AZN!) :P And it was just....Sooooo Gooood. I cant emphasise enough on how good it was! The salmon tasted extremely fresh and the tamarind sauce complimented the fish really well. I'm not a chef, so I'm not gonna even try to describe it in expert terminology. hahaha however, as a patron of this amazing restaurant (ok ok, I'm being too dramatic now) it was just hands down, D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S.

Pan-friend Salmon in Tamarind Sauce with French Beans and White Rice *Mouth starts watering again*

I speak on behalf of my other friends that even they agreed the food was really good.
Such beauty in one picture....*tummy grumbles*

The next hour, we just enjoyed our amazing food and talked and laughed and talked. OH! however, the lime cooler drinks (mine was Ginger Ale Lime Cooler & Yan's Cola Lime Cooler) wasn't so good.  They put salt on the rim of the glass. It wasn't appetising to me with the salt on the rim. I find the taste really weird. Amal's mint lemonade was the best drink amongst ours.

After we filled our belly's with delicious goodness, we made our way to Subang Parade on foot to The Coffee Club. There we had, as you guessed, COFFEE! (coffee...again. I gotta watch my intake)

We tried Affogato, Piccolo Latte, Cafe Latte and 2 other coffees with fancy exotic names that I don't remember. The affogato was really nice. And it was my first time drinking the espresso without the ice cream (because I actually accidentally finished the ice cream before I reached the coffee). Thus concludes day 2!

DAY #3:

Last day, I promise (for now) TEEHEE

In the morning, I woke up early for my saturday morning riding. I rode on Tycoon and he was really good and responsive. I still need to improve on my sitting trot and my stirrups keep slipping. Its been a while since I last rode, so my body is stiff and needs some time to adjust. Also because Tycoon is really tall compared to the other horses I rode before. Halfway through my class, it started raining heavily. I was completely drenched ! I don't mind but it was really cold (for a tropical country living person, I find it cold :P )

After my morning ride, I went over to Sunway Giza to catch a movie with the Gosip Mak Jemah gang (Naz's idea of calling us. it means : gossiping aunties). We watched the new TMNT movie. I give it a 5 out of 10 total but a 10/10 for making me laugh. After the movie Yan & Amal decided to go to Ikea and the rest of us decided to walk around and do some shopping.

ok, thats it for today! Mostly pictures this time and one of my longest posts, I think. Thank you for reaching the end of today's post and I'll update you next about my training progress for the upcoming marathon race!

Xx,

Sarah

Trip to the Oncologist part 2 | The Result

Good morning all the way from Malaysia! It's 9.18am and I'm back in the office. Today I'm gonna talk about my follow up and results collection at the oncologist yesterday.

2 weeks ago I went to the oncologist for a breast cancer check up after discovering 1 suspicious lump. During the check up the oncologist found not 1 but 2 lumps. She took some samples and sent them to the lab for analysis.

At about 1pm yesterday I took a half day off from my intern work and went to the hospital with mum. My appointment was scheduled at 2pm but being a hospital with many patients, I was only called in at about 4 pm. Those 2 hours of waiting were the most nerve-wrecking moment of my life. I made my jitters worse when I decided to read the posters about mastectomy and chemotherapy.

Imagine, a life altering news is waiting for me behind the doors of the clinic. Was I prepared for what the results may be? Was I prepared to face a news so big that it could change my entire life?

By the time they called me in, my hands and feet were super cold from nervousness. So the dr said me down and went through the report given by the lab.

Long story short, I am cancer free! I thank God for the great news. Basically the 1st lump were accumulated benign cells. Not harmful. (I think...I didn't do much reading about this. I was so tired last night, I crashed right after I reached home)

The 2nd lump sample wasn't enough...however the lab couldn't find any malignant cells. So alhamdulillah, I'm grateful for the good news! In conclusion, the dr said that I need not worry and that my next follow up is in February 2015. I do however have to take Evening Primrose Oil supplements. From what I read on Herbwisdom.com, it has beneficial qualities such as relieving discomfort of PMS, menopause, menstruation and other womanly health related issues. And according to them, it also reduces symptoms of Eczema (OH MA GAAWWD YOU FOR REAL???) {fact : I do have eczema..not as bad as before though). hahaha ok, so yeah it has various beneficial qualities which you can read up more online or ask your GP. I have to take the supplements to reduce the discomforts.

Even though the good news was given to me, I still had to decide whether I want to carry on with surgery to remove them or not. I haven't really decided. Yesterday was too eventful for me to sit down and make a decision. I've also never gone for surgery. So I'm quite unsure what to do.

Ok! So you have come to the end of today's blog post. Thank you for being there for me and cheering me on ! Even though you are half way around the world, I truly appreciate the support you guys have given me.

My thoughts and prayers goes to those going through this life altering challenge and know that you are loved and you're not alone.

okee... back to work! will write more soon!

Lots of love,
Sarah

Penny for my thoughts? | Book Recommendation #1, #2 and #3!

HOWDY! And welcome back to my blog! and for those who are new here, welcome to the written version of my thoughts (well, duuuhhh...) I'm Sarah and today I'm gonna talk about 3 books I recently completed reading.

These books have been out for sometime now and I just recently picked it up and finished reading them. Therefore on this auspicious night (its 11.17pm in Malaysia), I decided to share my reading experience and thoughts about the books and hopefully you'll be interested in reading them too!

{disclaimer : I'm not a book reviewer or any professional reviewer of any kind. Just sharing my thoughts and experience while reading the books}

Let's get on with it then !

Book #1

KL NOIR : RED accompanied by a bowl of porridge and Teh Ais, yumm!

KL NOIR : RED is the first book of a 4 part series under a home-grown Malaysian publishing company, FIXI NOVO (an imprint of Buku Fixi). Its my first book from them and I'm hooked! The book is a compilation of 14 short stories about the hidden and darker side of Kuala Lumpur. The writers are amazing and there are a variety of stories ranging from murder, black magic, suicides, rivalry, corruption, sci fi and even cannibalism. Sort of like a Stephen King book but much more relaxed. I mean I find it as an easy read and very relatable (in terms of the society setting....not the gory part....hahahah....). The books cost, if I remember it correctly, RM 20 (equivalent to USD 6) and the stories are in English with a few Malay language added here and there. (we are a multicultural country, so we often speak Manglish = Malay + English). My favourite story is Cannibal VS. Ah Long by Megat Ishak. As the name suggest...is about cannibalism.

Book #2

KL NOIR : WHITE | home

KL NOIR : WHITE is the 2nd volume of the 4 part KL NOIR series. Similar to the RED, this book is a compilation of 18 short stories. I find that WHITE is a tad bit violent compared to RED. Not so much as to turn your stomachs inside out of course...but I would say I actually prefer this one compared to the RED. In this book, I have a few favourites. Im torn between Yummy Meats by Terence Tang, Jalan Masjid India by Bathma Loshanee and The Banger by Jimie Cheng.

I'm terrible at explaining a story especially something I actually really like because I fear I might give away the whole plot. I'll do my best to explain why I like these stories.

Yummy Meats is a sci-fi story with a weird twist to it. Its not your usual guy save world story like that movie Tom Cruise was in and another one with Keanu Reeves in it....I actually forgot the titles...ANYWAYS, the main character of this story saves the world from being eaten by a weird alien species. Well...he saves the males of the world, that is. ;) The story is told in a very easy way. I guess the reason why I enjoyed it is because its not the usual aliens invading the world stories.

Jalan Masjid India is a story about revenge. Not to be confused with the actual road in Kuala Lumpur (one of the busiest roads), this story revolves around a female character named Natasha that seeks out the help of a homeless man in getting even with her boss. I like the story because it is easy to visualise the scenario and the hidden nature of people that you don't realise exists by their appearances.

Lastly, The Banger is also a story about revenge and getting even. Its told from the perspective of a male character who soon becomes the victim of the revenge. I like the story because of how the writer plays with the suspense. As it is from the soon-to-be victims point of view, I sorta can imagine how its like to be in the situation.

BOOK #3 finally!

So the final book is not really a novel but its a book teaching the techniques of layering and using the tools for layering such as markers, graphite, pastels etc. Its more of a study book for me. And I haven't actually completed reading it yet. I borrowed this book from my art teacher, Mr David. The intro of the book is really interesting. They used a lot of graphics to describe the process of creating a layout design. From the concept to the design to the production. As you go further, the book explains the various tools and techniques in creating a layout design (such as posters etc.) The only slack part is that the inside is monochrome...so you cant really see the techniques of the layering. All in all, I would definitely like to buy a copy of this book if I ever find it.

OK! so that concludes my Book recommendations. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and I will talk to you soon! maybe next week....maybe tomorrow... I get bored real easily and there's no one to talk to so I go to the internet to pour my lonely heart out but I don't do it on youtube cause I'm too shy to speak in front of the camera and most of my videos online are very much videos with music so I don't have to speak and hear myself speaking while editing....

Laters!

Sarah
